How to Install Your Adwerx Retargeting Pixel

Personalized Retargeting ads (sometimes referred to as remarketing) are a powerful way to stay in front of your most engaged prospects, the ones who’ve already visited your website. Once the pixel is installed, any Adwerx campaign you’ve purchased will automatically start showing ads to these warm leads across top websites, social platforms and mobile apps.

Where to Find Your Retargeting Pixel

You can access your personalized retargeting pixel directly from your Adwerx account:

My Account > Settings > Get Retargeting Code

From here, you’ll be able to view and copy your pixel(s). If you’re running multiple campaigns, you can also generate separate pixels to target different pages or audiences. For example, you can create one pixel for your homepage and another for your open house listings.

How to Add Your Retargeting Pixel to Your Website

To start tracking website visitors, you'll need to paste your pixel code into the HTML of your website. Specifically in the same place where you'd normally add tracking scripts like Google Analytics.

Here’s an example of what your Adwerx Retargeting pixel will look like:

<!-- Adwerx Pixel - Website Homepage Visitors - DO NOT MODIFY -- >

<script src="//pixel.adwerx.com/000/aa_awp.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

<!-- END OF Adwerx Pixel -- >

When Using a CMS (like WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, etc.)

Most website builders offer a place to add custom code to the global header of your site (so the pixel fires on every page) or to individual page headers if you want more control over which visitors are retargeted.

If you’re unsure where to paste the code:

  • Check your CMS provider’s help center or search “how to add tracking code in [Your CMS Name]”
  • Look for sections like “Custom Code,” “Header Settings,” or “Site-wide Scripts”

Using Google Tag Manager (GTM)

If you manage your tracking for your website with Google Tag Manager, you can add the Adwerx pixel as a new tag. Here’s a high-level overview:

  1. Log into Google Tag Manager
  2. Create a new Tag and choose Custom HTML
  3. Paste your Adwerx pixel script
  4. Set your Trigger (e.g., “All Pages” or a specific URL)
  5. Save and Publish your container

We recommend referring to Google Tag Manager’s official documentation for detailed steps.

What Happens Once I Install My Retargeting Pixel?

Once your pixel is live:

  • Every potential visitor to your site will be automatically added to your Adwerx audience
  • Your retargeting ads will begin to show to those visitors, helping you stay top-of-mind and drive re-engagement.

If you’ve created multiple pixels, you’ll be able to run campaigns that show different messages to people based on which pages they’ve visited. Just connect the appropriate audience with each ad in your campaign’s settings.
