SamSpeaks! with Laurie Weston Davis

Five years from now, if you’re not using these tools, your business is going to go away.”

That’s what Laurie Weston Davis of Better Homes & Gardens Lifestyle Properties shared with Sam DeBianchi in the latest episode of SamSpeaks! Based in Pinehurst, North Carolina, Laurie is also one of the founders behind The Geeky Girls, a web site that focuses on technology for real estate.

She’s talking about a variety of tools, but particularly social. The conversation shouldn’t be whether social matters for real estate, but how it matters to you and to your brand.

But social isn’t just for lead gen, it’s more important for cultivating the relationships that matter to your business.

“There have been so many tools to help agents create leads from cold contacts, but now there are new tools helping agents target their sphere,” Laurie said. “Which is where most of our business comes from anyway. So if you’re going to spend money, why not spend it there?”

Because staying top of mind with the people you know is critical to be the real estate agent they think of for repeat business and referral business. “Even your family forgets your an agent! Even my sister-in-law forgot. She was going to buy a house and I said, “Whoa, whoa whoa!””

Laurie makes full use of Facebook, creating comprehensive lists for her specific content to specific people, “so my friends and family don’t hate me.”

And if you’re going to use Facebook ads for real estate branding, think about testing and testing and testing some more. It’s all about finding the right mix for you.
